Abstract
The 20th century
has been distinguished by the silicon-based information revolution.
We show
that silicon has remained competitive either by surpassing the challengers or
by
becoming increasingly integrated with them. New developments make it likely
that
silicon
technology will continue as a key platform for the next decades as well.
