Abstract :
Quantum computers have the potential to outperform classical
computers in complex
calculations. Several physical systems are being
investigated for realizing a quantum
computer with trapped ions as one of the most
promising candidates.
In this presentation I will introduce trapped ions,
and explain how they are used for
quantum calculations. Furthermore, I will describe our
research at
where we excite trapped ions into high-lying
electronic states with the goal to make
quantum calculations with trapped ions faster and more
flexible.
