Abstract :
The first part of
the lecture will be devoted to the development of integral field spectroscopy,
from the
historical development to the 3rd generation with MUSE. In the second part I
will
present some of
the results brought by MUSE in the field of galaxy evolution and formation
at high redshift.
In the last part I will present some ideas for the future of integral field
spectroscopy.
